Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, BEN DUINKER enjoys a multifaceted career in education, research, administration, performance, and composition. Across a 20-year career as a percussionist and choral singer, he has premiered some 100 new works and has won prizes at numerous competitions, including the OSM Standard Life Competition, PASIC Solo Percussion Competition, and the Prix D’Europe. In parallel to his work in performance, Duinker holds a PhD in Music Theory (McGill) and has published widely on a variety of topics, ranging from hip-hop music to theory pedagogy, to analysis and performance. He has taught at McGill University, University of Toronto, and Université du Québec à Montréal. The recipient of numerous scholarships and awards for his research and an experienced producer of conferences and educational programs, Duinker presently works in the Strategic Partnerships Unit of McGill’s School of Continuing Studies. www.benduinker.com
